Bird Watching

Suffolk is an absolute haven for birds watchers, with the mixed landscapes of beaches, marshes, cliffs, heathlands, fenlands, reedbeds, and broads plus rivers and lakes, there is always something interesting to spot. Our nearest and most famous nature reserve is undoubtedly RSPB Minsmere, which aswell as birds, is home to some of the UK's rarest wildlife. Here, you can spot avocets, bearded tits, bitterns, marsh harrier, nightjars and sand martins to name but a view. There are many other RSPB Bird Reserves and Suffolk Wildlife Trust Nature Reserves across Suffolk.

Star Gazing

We are very lucky to live in an area with some of the darkest skies and lowest light pollution in the country. Bring your telescope and gaze from the meadows outside your holiday accommodation. Or visit Stargazing in Suffolk to find some other recognised Dark Sky Discovery Sites nearby. Or, if you are a serious Star Gazer, visit the Seething Observatory, which is run by the Norwich Astronomical Society or the Orwell Park Observatory - both are open to the public on selected dates throughout the year.

Suffolk Cycling

With its distinct lack of hills, quiet country lanes and miles of coastal paths, Suffolk is a top destination for cyclists, whether you are lycra-clad or just cycling for fun. With so many routes to choose from, you will be spoilt for choice. Cycling UK has some great information including maps of routes on their website. If you are looking to hire bicycles for the duration of your stay then check out Suffolk Cycle Hire - who hire tourers, mountain bikes, electric bikes and a range of children's bikes, all delivered to your holiday home or a public place. Or Southwold Cycle Hire who also deliver, or you can collect from their beach hut and start your journey in Southwold.

Spa Days

Should you need an extra bit of R & R during your stay Potton Hall, close to Westleton is unlike any other Spa Retreat we know of. Owned by Priscilla and John, Priscilla has lovingly turned the grounds and buildings into a unique retreat with outdoor swimming pool, hot tub, treatment rooms, yurt cafe, cottage accommodation, beautiful gardens and a sculpture trail - full of pieces by local artists. The emphasis is on nature and wellness and guests are encouraged to spend time enjoying nature. Further up the coast, you will find Ufford Park - a golf course, spa and hotel. The enticing Spa boasts a swimming pool, sauna, steam room, thermal spa, treatment options aswell as a salt floatation tank, herbal tea lounge, swing chairs and hibernation lounge. There is also a dinosaur themed adventure golf course for your inner child.

Golf Clubs

We are lucky to have many fantastic golf courses within a 20 mile radius of Bunkers Hill Farm. The closest being Halesworth Golf Club, set in over 200 acres with a challenging 18 hole course, and a 9 hole course. Further towards the Coast are Southwold, Aldeburgh and Thorpeness Golf Clubs. Southwold Golf Club features a stunning Heathland 9 hole course. Aldeburgh Golf Club showcases a Championship 18 hole course plus a 9 hole River course. Thorpeness Golf Club features another championship 18 hole course, designed by James Braid back in 1922. Further inland, you can visit Bungay Golf Club - home to another 18 hole course.

All of these courses have pro shops and clubhouses with bar and restaurants offering the best of local cuisine. Please visit their websites for more information and to book tee times.
